You don't need a mixer to make this cake. All you need is a good mood and a desire to treat yourself and your family to a mega chocolate cake! Cake pan: 10 in (26 cm).
Ingredients:
• sugar | 1 cup |
• water | 1 cup |
• All-purpose flour | 2 cups |
• baking powder | 1 teaspoon |
• milk | 1 cup |
• eggs | 4 |
• canola oil | 100 ml |
• unsalted butter | 50 g |
• white vinegar | 1 tablespoon |
• unsweetened cocoa powder | 5 tablespoons |
• dark chocolate | 150 g |
• milk (for glaze) | 70 ml |
• cognac (optionally) | 1 tablespoon |
• berries | to taste |
Milk should be at room temperature! Use only fresh berries. Frozen ones will leak.
1. Line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper.
2. Preheat an oven to 356F (185C)
3. In a large bowl, combine the eggs and milk; stir gently; add oil and sugar and stir gently again.
4. In a medium size bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder and baking powder. Sift into the egg mixture and whisk everything together until combine.
5. Boil water, add vinegar, pour into the cake mixture and whisk everything together.
6. Bake the cake for 45 minutes. Check readiness with a wooden toothpick.
7. If the toothpick comes out clean without any dough, the cake is ready, if not, leave it for another 10 minutes.
8. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
GLAZE
9. In a small pot: combine 70 ml of milk, butter and chocolate. Melt everything over low heat, stirring continuously; optionally add 1 tablespoon of cognac. Glaze cake and decorate with berries.
