This country toast blends rustic bread with cinnamon and sugar for a cozy, sweet twist. Cooking it in oil gives it a crispy outside and fluffy inside, making it perfect for breakfast or a comforting snack!
Ingredients:
• sugar | 2 tablespoons |
• salt | pinch |
• milk | 1/2 cup |
• eggs | 2 large |
• powdered sugar | optional for dusting |
• oil | for cooking |
• country or rustic bread | 4 slices |
• cinnamon | 1 teaspoon |
• maple syrup or honey | for serving |
1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
2. Soak each slice of bread in the egg and milk mixture for about 20-30 seconds per side, allowing the bread to absorb the liquid.
3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
